What is Moxibustion (Moxa)?
Moxibustion (Moxa) is a warming technique used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years — with an even longer history than acupuncture. Gently burning Ai Ye (mugwort) warms specific areas or acupuncture points to promote circulation, relieve pain, and dispel cold.\n\nRegarded as a premier herb for gynecology, moxa is also a valued needle-free option — gentle enough for children.

Answers to common questions about your care and what to expect.
What is moxibustion?
Moxibustion applies gentle, penetrating warmth from smoldering mugwort near specific points. It is used to support circulation and to warm areas that feel cold, stiff, or depleted.
Does the heat touch my skin?
No. The warmth is held at a comfortable distance or used with a barrier, and you should tell your practitioner immediately if it feels too hot at any point.
Is there smoke or a smell?
There can be a distinctive herbal aroma. We ventilate the room and can use smokeless options — just let us know if you are sensitive to smoke or have asthma.
What is it commonly used for?
It is often combined with acupuncture for circulation, digestive comfort, and general depletion. Your practitioner will explain why it is being used in your case.
